A design job that came with a fair bit of responsibility – after all, an image of Austria that four million visitors would end up taking home with them as far away as China really ought to be a beautiful one.
And beautiful it was: modern from a typographical viewpoint, the corporate design still imparts a distinctly classic impression. A 10 Kreuzer stamp from the days of Emperor Franz Josef provided the inspiration for the decorative grid (see main logo), which provides a consistent imperial feature on all merchandising items – and which works well with all forms of packaging.
Polygonal, rectangular, round, oval, on boxes, packages and banderoles, too. A recurring colour palate and rich illustrative universe also features, developing its own tongue-in-cheek spirit that, in our opinion, does complete justice to Schönbrunn’s (and Austria’s) reputation.
