The Taste of Home book was inspired by an appeal issued by Austria’s culinary heritage association for readers of the Kronen Zeitung to send in their old family recipes. Austria’s largest daily newspaper collected hundreds of examples illustrating how the best way to a family’s heart is through its stomach: recipes that are guarded like family secrets. Examples from the 50s, 60s and 70s trickled in, alongside a number of more contemporary offerings. Thomas Gabriel got to work preparing our culinary childhood memories according to the style of each era, using the right typography and an original illustration style to whet readers’ appetites.
