The monastery sits 429m above sea level overlooking the Danube. And similarly to the way that the church is constantly redefining itself, the monastery’s wine estate was reinvented in 2007, in collaboration with old friends Werner Lanthaler, Fritz Miesbauer and a number of other partners. We borrowed the idea for the new labels from the magnificent ceiling paintings above the Kaiserstiege staircase inside the monastery. And added a heavenly touch of our own to crown it. Honouring the 57th Franciscan rule in the process: the glorification of God in everything. Including this excellent altar wine.
